In particular Designersblock and the Goldfinger Project at [space] in Hackney sound promising. Trellick Tower designed by Ernš Goldfinger can also be visited through Open House London.

Thanks to a post on the excellent Pruned, I’ve come across some amazing images of the Super-Kamiokande (a detector for cosmic particles 1,000 metres below ground in a disused mine) at Kamioka Observatory, ICRR (Institute for Cosmic Ray Research), at the University of Tokyo. Truly incredible.

inpholio, an international database of photography-related services, has just been launched.

The work is being presented in a clutter-free and restrained way, and although some of the categories are still a bit sparse, the photography and agencies sections are definitely rich and of very good quality. It’s early days, but it looks very promising already!

I just came across this well thought-out and beautifully designed CMS created by local hero Daniel Eatock and Belgian programmer Jeffery Vaska.

Its functionality is quite basic (which is also one of its main strengths), but it’s well suited for portfolio sites and very easy to use and install. Oh, and it’s open source too. (Thanks to Craig and Laura at Ravensbourne College to bring this one to my attention!)

Edit: Vaska assures me he is actually American and just lives in Belgium… and he is primarily a designer, as well as a programmer. Now it all starts making sense!
